Are You a Team Mom? Try Some AI Tools

I volunteered to make the year-end slideshow for my son's wrestling team. The other parents ignored every instruction I gave them. ChatGPT Codex saved my sanity and made a 216-slide presentation in hours.

Are You a Team Mom? Try Some AI Tools

I signed up to create the year end slideshow and team video for my sons' wrestling team this year because I'm simultaneously very helpful, but also too stupid to have learned what a hassle these things always are.

The Other Parents Did What They Always Do

The other parents completely ignored instructions, so I was left with one messy folder with hundreds of uncategorized videos and photos all lumped together. Shame on me for creating a carefully thought out folder structure and precise instructions both via email as well as explaining it in person at the end of practice. We're at 10th grade, so I should know by now that most of you are incapable of performing basic tasks, but alas my tendency to believe in adults has thwarted me again.

Anyway, now that I'm done playing the victim, let's get back to the interesting portion.

ChatGPT Codex to the Rescue

As mentioned last week, I have been getting to work with ChatGPT Codex. It made the process of creating the team slideshow and video so much easier this year.

First, I had ChatGPT Codex move all of the photos into one folder, and the movies into another. That made the next step of going through and cropping all of the images and kicking out duplicates or bad photos way easier.

After I had the photo set that I wanted, I instructed ChatGPT Codex to make a slideshow. It worked away for over an hour and made something that was way more than I had asked for. It reviewed all of the photos, created a narrative structure, grouped together similar photos, and made a slideshow complete with words and formatting. It was very impressive.

More Than I Asked For

In the end, it was more than I asked for, and I apologized to ChatGPT that I wasn't more specific that I just wanted one photo per slide, stretched to fill up as much real estate as possible. ChatGPT never complained, it just got back to work and spit out this new request like a boss.

I ended up giving it one more request to randomize the order of the slides and biggity bam, DONE. I have a 216 page PowerPoint show that will play on a loop in the background of our team dinner.

The Point

The life of a team mom has never been easier. You don't need to be technical to use these tools. You just need a problem to solve and the willingness to describe what you want. If you're trying to figure out how to use AI to make your own life easier, we would love to help you get started.
